Sunčana Brkulj was born in 1997 in Zadar, Croatia. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in Animated Film and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. She graduated summa cum laude in 2022. During her studies, she made three student films which screened at international animation festivals such as those in Annecy, Ottawa, Zagreb, Stuttgart and elsewhere. The films won several awards and recognitions. As part of the Open Workshop artist residency, she created her first professional animated film, “Butterfly,” produced by Adriatic Animation (Croatia) and Late Love Production (Denmark). In addition to animated films, Sunčana creates experimental collage pieces.
