Synopsis

The basic unit for studying tourism is a tourist, i.e. any person (traveler) who spends at least 24 hours (but not more than one year) on a trip outside their place of permanent residence (domicile), and undertakes the trip (which has the characteristics of a temporary stay and which they embark on voluntarily) for the purpose of rest, leisure, recreation and relaxation, family, health, business and similar reasons.
