Sunčica Ana Veldić was born in 1981 in Zagreb. After graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb in 2006, she started working as a veterinarian, a profession she still practices today.
In 2013, after completing a course in screenwriting, directing, and editing at the Kinoklub Zagreb, she directed her first documentary film Hux Flux, Smokvin sin (Hux Flux, The Son of Fig), co-directed with Martin Semenčić. After being screened at documentary film festivals in Croatia and abroad and winning several awards, the film was positively reviewed in Sight and Sound magazine. She then went on to direct several other award-winning short documentary and experimental films, Love Is a Warm Gun (Croatian Virgin), The Tenant, and with her short documentary film Festival Tourism (2016), she won the Best Editing Award at the 25th edition of the Croatian Film Days.
In most of her films, she takes on most of the creative roles, writing the script, directing, shooting, and editing.
In 2017, she enrolled in the MA Program in Documentary Film Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art, where she directed three documentary films: Demon from the Bottle (2017), White Trash (2017), and Overrated Dramaturgy (2017), with the latter two being screened and awarded at numerous national and international film festivals. White Trash was also included in the competition program of the Tampere Film Festival.
In 2020, her short documentary films Catstream, produced by Dinaridi Film, and Person, produced by Anahonda Film, were distributed and received special recognition awards.
