A middle-aged housekeeper decides to leave her family. The film follows the day she finally wins her freedom – how she spends it and what scares her.

Pastry-shop worker Verica, and opera singers Brankica and Martin are the protagonists of this story about loneliness and search for love, which takes place before Christmas. An accidental series of events, which include cockroaches, gingerbread cookies, and an opera aria, will entwine their destinies and resolve seemingly unsolvable situations.
