The author is a student of documentary film directing, with a background in amateur filmmaking. After years of making avant-garde films, she decides to create a well-structured film in which she tries to reconcile her experimental leanings and the conventions imposed on her by formal education.

An art history professor visits a student named Dunja while she is painting two male models in her class. They go to dinner together, where they discuss her upcoming exhibition, for which the professor agrees to write a preamble. The socializing continues at the professor’s home, where Dunja wishes to go home.
